Meet & see Gentle Mountain Gorilla in Rwanda

Day 1: KIGALI – MUSANZE (02H30 DRIVE) / KARISOKE RESEARCH CENTER    (2hrs30 minutes’ drive)

After breakfast at 08h00, pick up from your hotel, you will be briefed and introduced to your driver-guide.  You will then proceed on a city tour of Kigali visiting The Kigali Genocide Memorial Center. 

Highlight; Genocide Memorial Center- Kigali: The genocide memorial is included on every city tour and is a must-see. Rwanda’s painful past has haunted the country for years; however, their impressive recovery story has turned them into inspiration. The genocide memorial acts as a humbling reminder to those present and honors those lost. Audio-visual equipment will be provided in English or other languages that are spoken by clients.

At 1100 hrs, have a leisurely drive to Musanze & VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.

Arrive at 01h30 and check in at the lodge. Leisure. Have lunch. Afternoon at leisure.

Dinner and overnight at Sabinyo Silverback Lodge/Five Volcanoes/Bishops House/Da Vinci Lodge (Meal Plan (Lunch, Dinner, Bed, and Breakfast)

Day 2:   2019     VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK (Gorilla TREK / KARISOKE RESEARCH CENTER)  – Kigali   (2hrs30 minutes drive)

Early breakfast at the lodge then proceeds to the park headquarters in time for the Gorilla Trek briefing at 07h00.

We will then transfer you to the start point of your guided walk which begins at 08h00. Here, your amazing adventure begins.

Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range and is the home of the rare mountain gorilla and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp, and health, but the high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young. After the memorable experience, you will return to the lodge for your lunch and check-out, an optional visit to the Karisoke Research Center.

The Karisoke exhibit consists of seven sections:

  • Gorillas: Overview, behavior, and life history of mountain gorillas
  • Dian Fossey and the History of Karisoke
  • Conservation and challenges
  • Biodiversity: Other animals and plants in the forest
  • Working with local communities
  • The Virunga mountains

All of the exhibit’s sections include panels and posters filled with information and photos, and may also include iPads with videos, photos, and additional information. For those who want to learn more about gorillas, the gorilla section includes not only detailed information about gorillas, such as diet, behavior, and social structure but also skeletal models and audio recordings of gorilla vocalizations.

Have a leisurely drive back to Kigali arrive and drop you off at your hotel or Airport.
