Meet & see Gentle Mountain Gorilla in Rwanda

It is advisable to secure a gorilla trekking permit well in advance to enable you see and track the mountain gorillas, it is so easy when you contract a local DMC to secure your trekking permit for a date of your interest throughout the year. Each gorilla family is visited by only 8 visitors per day and Rwanda currently has a total of 96 gorilla permits sold each day which a very small number so advance booking is sought relevant for a visitor that is seeking to see the mountain gorillas in Rwanda.

The trek can be strenuous if you are visiting a group high up the volcano but relatively easy if you are lucky enough to trek a family nearby what is referred to as easy or medium trek families. Be prepared for rough climbing.

Getting to see the mountain gorillas, the Park Rangers and staff are assembled for their briefing. Get assigned to Park Ranger that will brief a group of tourists ready to see and meet the mountain gorillas of the do’s and don’ts while with the gorillas. You will be escorted with a group of porters to carry your backpacks as you head out to a hike to the base of Mt. Bisoke for you to start the gorilla trek.

It is never difficult for the hike in the mud and many rocks along the way. The way becomes so dense with plants that have thorny leaves (it’s always best to wear attire that would protect your body). Hiking boots is a must as you will walk on rocks and mud. Better and advised to get a porter. The gorilla porter will help you climb up the mountain, often holding your hand so you don’t slip and fall. Your porter will always save you from falling.

Finally, seeing the mountain and trekking, you will have seen these beautiful gorillas (mama gorilla with juveniles; baby gorilla with the mama gorilla, an adult gorilla taking a nap on the side such an experience your bound to experience on a gorilla trek. This is such a great experience that you will never forget

You will be exactly one hour to view the gorillas and to take pictures (without flash). The one hour will seem to be so fast but you will take enough pictures to remember this awesome day. You will fall in love mountain gorillas
